⚠️ This issue is very important, fixing it could save networks in the future! ⚠️
If you haven’t seen, there are various spam botnets around networks running non-IRCat servers.
Perhaps implementing ban plugins for these botnets could make a big difference!
Evidence of botnet existence (will add more, including IRCat logs:
Outside IRCat (AnthroChat)
Links to the botnet source codes will be confidental, I will only send them via SweeNet.

On ##TheCommunityOfPeople on OFTC.net
#gamesurge on GameSurge got it REALLY badly
and then the SpEcIaL sPaM (their bot just spouts song lyrics)
they seem to think their No Rules shit applies on every website on the internet.

i have a plan tho, im going to break their Botnet using /list on a server that doesnt support it. something that swee found with Codename IRCat

I can also make a channel “trap” with a plugin, so it calls the ban engine when the bot tries to join that channel

I am currently module-ifying the ban engine so I can work on making botnet control plugins when I’m done.

I finished making the ban_engine plugin, will now work on ban techniques for the botnets.

Context:
- After mentioning Depresst0, I added my laptop’s IP to my bans.txt
- The client tries to send a message “test” after, but doesn’t get sent. This is a good way to protect from supernets botnets.

We’ve done it, bois
There’s also a fake channel, that will work too.
Remember that the topic of the channels aren’t lying when using /LIST

I will check my bans.txt in probs a week or month or two to see if the plugin is effective :3
